The Wanderers’ Lamb

The Club’s mascot is Mary’s Lamb with which there is an accompanying anthem:

Mary had a little lamb with fleece as white a snow,
Shouting out the battle cry of freedom,
Any everyjwere the Wanderers went that lamb was sure to go,
Shouting out the battle cry of freedom.
Hurrah for Mary, Hurrah for the lamb,
Hurrah for the little girl who didn’t care…a little bit
And everywhere the Wanderers went that lamb was sure to go
Shouting out the battle cry of freedom
Hurrah, Hurrah, Hurrah.
Baaa.

This refrain, accompanied by the lamb, was sung on the very first tour and has been sung by Wanderers’ parties ever since in numerous locations and on many occasions across the world.
It is the practice for the lamb to be placed in the net during matches and for the anthem to be sung at the end of each game, regardless of the result!
